On the Salt™, a nonprofit focused on educating and celebrating the power of shellfish as bio-purifiers through art and design, is in collaboration with Ostella Shells, a bespoke jewelry line focused on handcrafted one-of-a-kind nautical jewelry, creating a limited edition series of shell-forward necklaces. Each necklace is catalogued with the coastlines the shells came from, connecting to sence of place and the waters that these shells once cleaned.
These limited edition necklaces are inspired by shellfish that act as bio-purifiers, naturally cleaning our coastal waters where they are farmed and grow wild.
The Clarity Collection is a refined tribute to the ocean’s quiet brilliance and the natural shells that help sustain its balance. Crafted from authentic blue mussels, scallops, oysters, and clams, each piece begins with a shell from the Atlantic Seaboard, carefully hand-selected for its distinctive form, luminous texture, and enduring beauty.
Finished with tarnish-resistant 18K gold-plated or sterling silver accents, every necklace reflects dedication to thoughtful craftsmanship and conscious luxury. Each necklace is shaped by nature, elevated through design, and strengthened through hand-crafting, creating singular heirloom-quality pieces. The Lumina Collection is inspired by the Latin word lumina, meaning sources of light—a celebration of illumination, clarity, and nature's quiet brilliance. Featuring authentic Anomia, "Jingle Shells," each naturally luminous shell is locally sourced and hand-selected for its iridescent beauty, complemented with radiant 18K gold-plated accents.

This collaboration of two women-owned companies, both centered on the sea, is one that came together with a shared love of shellfish, science, and the arts. The founder of Ostella is a scientist and the founder of On the Salt™ is an artist and educator. Beyond their love of oysters and clean coastal waters, both Founders are boaters and were collegiate swimmers. This shared pull to the water led to a collaboration with easy flow as they celebrate each others’ gifts.
